Gevalin®

Aegle marmelos (Bael) fruit extract · standardised to gallotannic acid + marmelosin

Gevalin®: dual-mechanism Aegle marmelos (Bael) extract buffering gastric acid and supporting the mucosal barrier. Distributed in Türkiye by Biontera.

Gevalin®

Gevalin® is a proprietary extract of Aegle marmelos (Bael) fruit ; used for centuries in traditional Indian medicine ; standardised to gallotannic acid and marmelosin, developed for formulations targeting the gastric-comfort research area.

The published mechanism-of-action file describes two complementary actions: a buffering (antacid-like) effect that balances gastric pH, and a mucosal protective barrier supported by increased mucus secretion.[1] In a 7-day observational case study of ten participants taking 250 mg daily, improvements were reported in symptom scores for acidity, reflux, bloating and bowel regularity.[2]

Clinical and Technical Evidence

The literature reports a 42–44% risk of symptomatic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding in chronic NSAID users; proton-pump inhibitors deliver strong acid suppression, but questions around their long-term use have driven formulation interest toward naturally sourced supportive ingredients. Aegle marmelos, of the Rutaceae family, bears fruit rich in tannins and coumarin derivatives.

Gevalin®'s mechanism file assembles in-vitro and observational data along three axes: acid-neutralising capacity, increased mucus secretion, and mucosal surface protection. This dual mechanism is a distinctive profile for gastric-comfort formulations seeking a physiological approach not based on acid suppression alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does Gevalin®'s dual mechanism mean? +

Per the published mechanism file, the extract both buffers gastric acid to balance pH and increases mucus secretion, supporting a protective barrier over the gastric mucosa. The two actions are complementary.

Which formulation types is it suited to? +

Chewable tablets, effervescents, capsules and sachets; its sensory profile suits chewable formats.

What is it standardised to? +

The extract is standardised to gallotannic acid and marmelosin markers, delivered with a lot-based CoA.

How do I access the clinical file? +

The mechanism file (Ver. 03) and case study are shared in full text after an NDA; request them together with samples.
