Carotex®

Carotex® is a stabilised, high-bioavailability provitamin A source that overcomes beta-carotene's known formulation challenge ; strong hydrophobicity ; through BioFusion technology. Its bioavailability study was published in the peer-reviewed International Journal of Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (IJRPS).[1]

In a five-arm comparative study, tissue beta-carotene concentration in the Carotex® group measured approximately 1.70× higher than a commercial comparator and 2.55× higher than control ; with retinal levels equivalent across all groups, confirming a safe conversion profile.

Per the WHO, vitamin A deficiency is a systemic condition affecting cells and organs throughout the body, presenting as xerophthalmia, night blindness and xerosis. Beta-carotene is the precursor of vitamin A — which the human body cannot synthesise — and because conversion is need-driven, it avoids the high-dose toxicity risk of preformed vitamin A (retinol).

The practical formulation barrier is beta-carotene's hydrophobic structure and oxidative instability.
